Dali Museum Tour

Dali Theatre and Museum

The world famous Dali Theater and Museum is a large and sprawling museum located in the town Figueres, in Catalonia, Spain. The museum is a giant tribute to one of the most famous painters to ever exist, the legendary Salvador Dali.

The History of the Museum

The very center or heart of the museum used to be a structure that was home to the Figueres' main town theater during the time when Salvador Dali was just a child. The structure was also the place where Salvador's first publicly displayed art exhibition was displayed. The original building that used to be the theater was completely ruined during the Spanish Civil War. It remained in this ruinous state for several decades until Mr. Dali himself and the town mayor were motivated to completely restore it to its former glory. They both agree to rebuild it as a large museum rather than a theater, and eventually in 1960 it was completely dedicated to Salvador Dali and the entirety of his life and work.

Dali Museum Tour

The museum is open to public tours to both individuals and groups with a minimum of 25 adults. There are two separate branches of the Dali Museum Tour, one that focuses on day tours and the other, that offers a slightly different exhibit at night. The Dali Museum Tour is long and winding, and it is recommended that you dedicate at least 2 to 3 days to see it all. It is also recommended that you use a Dali Museum Tour guide in order to digest much of the information presented throughout the exhibits. The Dali Museum Tour is one of the most popular things to do in northeastern Spain, and definitely should not be missed.
